Change to EU customs charges: Addition €3 customs charge per unique item
We were just notified by our international shipping partner about an important change to EU shipping rules that starts July 1, 2026.
What's Happening
Right now, small shipments under €150 don't have customs duties. That's changing. Starting July 1, every shipment to the EU will have a €3 customs charge for each different product in the order.
How It Works
- If you order 1 product: €3
- If you order 3 different products: €9 (€3 x €3)
- If you order 10 of the same product: €3 (only once)
Why This Matters
Depending on the type of shipping you choose, you will be responsible for paying this fee up-front (DDP) or when the package reaches your country's customs (DDU)
Two Shipping Options
Option 1: DDU (Customer pays at Delivery)
- You pay the €3 duty when the package arrives
- Potential Issue: You see an unexpected charge and refuse delivery
- This means higher reject rates for Savage Industries and extra fees to have the merchandise returned to our warehouse
Option 2: DDP (Customer Pays Upfront)
- You pay the duty at time of checkout
- You receive the package with no surprise charge
- Shipping costs slightly more than DDU due to the carrier handling the customs process
